Prelim

Our prelim we filmed Bruno Mars' 'Lazy Song'. This was quite easy to film as it was all one shot. After filming 'Black Velvet' as our prelim and it not working we wanted something simpler and quick to do.

Thoughts towards our Prelim

For the past few weeks we as a group have been trying to figure out what music video we want to replicate for 20 seconds. As easy as this sounds we have had difficulty pick what we want to do. For research we just spent our time looking at all different music videos. This really opened our eyes to the difficulty of how difficult it is to make/edit a music video as alot of videos had lots of fast, quick cut shot making it very difficult for us to do. An example of this is is DJ Khaled's music video of 'All I do is win', which is one of the videos we wanted to do. This video as you can see has many different shots which would be different for us to do ourself.

Another issue we had in finding a video is the amount of explicit contain or unavailable resources which are used in music video. The video above also has these issues which is another reason we would not use this music video for our prelim.

Post Production

Finally after we finished filming we have the very difficult job of editing the clips and making it into something that we could call our opening. As we planned what order we wanted the shot to be in before filming we had a idea of what we wanted the opening to turn out like however after placing the clips in that order we released that some of the films didn't go well together and others had problems such as we could see that the car wasn't moving so therefore we had to rearrange certain clips. The first shot of the boot had to be filmed many times do to it not working well, and we wanted it to be perfect and to match the other footage for consistancy issues. We also had some problem with sound as we couldn't get the perfect sound coming from the boot. We ending up adding more things into it such as the baby crying. The song that was playing also changed many times as we felt it wasn't right.  It was a very long process and looking back there are many things that we would change and make different as now we have become more experienced we have a better understanding of what different things we can do.

Creativity

When creating our opening last year our group had trouble pick an idea and sticking to it. This was because of a variety of reasons. From timing, availability,  just wanting it to be perfect and something we could be proud of. So when we finally stuck to our idea we were determined to make it look the best it possibly could (as anyone would); But to us this meant it had to look like that LionsGate had produced our opening. Therefore to achieve we watched many different types of opening to do with the thriller genre swell as a lot of scenes from movies.

We were mostly inspired by the taxi scene in 'The Bone Collector'. We decided as a group on the shots we had liked from the clip and stared to included different shot which we would vision for it. We mind mapped/listed all different stereotypes when getting in a black cab, peoples fears and we begin to think of ways to bring these in. Soon enough we planned a shot list and had found all the props we wanted/ needed for our opening to work. We obviously like every one would had lots of idea that we could do due to not being a Hollywood production team, only being four girls and only have two minutes worth of screen time. This time round for our music video we have now learnt what we sort of need to do to create something, therefore we have a clear head going into this unlike this time last year which we were oblivious to all the different aspect, so hopefully this time we won't change our mind about 48,795 times before finally settling.

Digital Technology

Creating our opening last year we used a variety of different technology to help create our end
result. We mainly film our opening on a Panasonic video recorder. However we also used an Iphone5s with a fish eye lens to help emphasis the emptiness of the black cab, which was done with the help of this effect. The shots from inside of the black cab when driving was filmed on our Kodak film camera, as it was easier to film at that time. However this year we will be using a  Camera, this will dramatically increase the quality of the music video in comparison to last year. Using this camera will also allow us to use a variety of different lens, allowing use to have more advanced effect that the previous year, creating a more professional video.
